Last night after work, I plopped my ass down on the couch, cracked open an ice cold beer, and watched the Meat Loaf documentary about his latest world tour while Lauren slaved over a hot stove, cooking her special squash spaghetti recipe for supper. After reading Jordan’s latest blog, I couldn’t help but think what she would give to have just a few moments of the peace and quiet I got to experience. Roscoe wasn’t even home begging me to play! In fact, it’s something like that just about every weeknight. I complain about my Saturdays being taken away, but at the same time, I’m doing basically nothing in the five hours I have after work and before bed. I did, however, run in place for ten minutes and work up a small sweat. I am looking into purchasing a stationary bicycle trainer so I can ride the bike in place in front of the TV for exercise.
Let’s see, what else is new around here… As you may have read on Lauren’s blog, she is no longer unemployed! After being laid off June 21 from her old job as a billing analyst, she was hired by Supervalu as a business specialist. She does specialize in business, after all. I believe she’s now making more money than before, and her job is right on my way to work, so we can save money carpooling most of the time. Two incomes instead of one means we’ll be able to save a bit more money for the big wedding next fall.
I was just thinking the other day how I miss our old college road trips, and even a few post-college trips. Back in the day, we frequently got a group together to visit at someone’s town or college for the weekend. There were the Omaha weekends with Liz, the Minneapolis weekends with Patrick or Luke, trips to Nebraska to see Jason, trips to North Dakota to see Colin, trips to Madison to see me. People would just show up sometime Friday night and party all night, take in a few random attractions during the day Saturday, party again at night, and go home Sunday. Probably won’t ever have anything like that ever again, although we have been talking with Walsh about heading down to his new place in Faribault one of these weekends. Not quite the same, but close.
Tell me about it. I tried to organize a trip to the twin cities last month and everyone is busy. It ended up just being Jake and I, and Jake had to cancel due to some work that needed to be done on his house last minute.
Spaghetti squash, silly!
congrats to Lauren!
