House of Healthiness

Last night after work, the four roommates and Roscoe the family pooch took a much-needed walk all the way down to Hennepin and 24th to Sebastian Joe’s to get some ice cream.  Perhaps the ice cream cancelled out our healthy walk, but it was a walk nonetheless, something we didn’t do much of during the hot, muggy, baseball-filled summer.

And then tonight after work, I agreed to face co-worker Josh is a battle of the marketing department in a couple rounds of racquetball.  It was the first time in over a year I’ve played, but I proved to still have a little something left in the tank, winning 17-15, 15-7, and blowing a 12-6 lead in the final game to lose 15-12.  Clearly, I got tired.

At work this week, I have definitely earned my paycheck.  Sometimes I can be a slacker, but this week I haven’t even had the opportunity to slack.  Projects large and small keep piling up.  The second I get a start on one, three more come in.  There is a very long way to go before I’m dug out of this big hole.  If there’s ever been a time I should put in extra hours, this is the time.  But I don’t believe in working a minute past 5, so… not gonna happen.

Not much on tap for the weekend.  Friday night we plan to have a little backyard bonfire, so if you’re bored, swing on by!  Rumor has it that Jason, who has Friday off, will come over and spend the day with Lauren, who sadly will be celebrating her last weekday off before beginning her new career at Supervalu on Monday.  Saturday, we were supposed to go to an end-of-the-year party on the local farm where our CSA vegetables were grown, but noooo… I have to DJ yet again!  But it is the last time as a Nightlifer, so I’m gonna make it a good one.

And then on Sunday, there was talk of going to the Vikings game.  Lauren’s never been to one, and I figure it there’s one game all year worth seeing, it would be their most winnable game, vs. the hapless Detroit Lions.  If we don’t do that, Lauren just mentioned there’s a big bridal fair going on just down the street at the convention center.
