My annual MLB predictions are back, and after two astounding years of exactly predicting the World Series outcomes Braves over Astros in 2021, and Dodgers over Rays in 2020, I came back down to earth with a very incorrect Brewers/Blue Jays guess in 2022. I managed to predict 8 of the 12 playoff teams, though.
As a Twins fan since the age of 11, it has been a bumpy ride. I’m now 40, and the Twins have won only ONE playoff series in that entire timeframe (2002 ALDS). While they had a really good winter, adding Pablo Lopez, Joey Gallo, Kyle Farmer, Michael Taylor, Donovan Solano and improbably bringing back Carlos Correa, I just can’t and won’t predict them to go far until they actually prove it. With the new schedule format and every team playing each other, the Twins’ schedule will get a little harder as they eliminate a lot of Royals and Tigers games, and replace them with Dodgers, Braves, Cardinals, etc. The AL Central might collectively be pretty poor.
I will predict this about the Twins: if Byron Buxton plays 110+ games, they will win 90+ games and the division. If Buxton plays fewer than that, it will look like the standings below where they win 83 and miss the playoffs.
The Twins do have fun new uniforms, if nothing else. While I like their new lettering and especially home jerseys, the new M hat with the north star will take some getting used to.
