Yesterday Lauren, Walsh, Sarah, and I took in the first Twins game at Target Field as the Twins lost to the Cardinals 8-4. No one was too concerned about the outcome of the game as we once again were just taking in the new stadium and atmosphere.
It rained a lot during the afternoon but stopped in time for the game. I foolishly wore just a t-shirt, which was a poor choice as we sat in the howling wind in the upper deck. I thought it would be funny to be the first ever shirtless fan at Target Field, so I removed my shirt for a few minutes in the eighth inning. Of course Lauren snatched my shirt away and wouldn’t give it back, and a crowd of people watched on laughing.
Lauren and I each had to try one of the official Kramarczuk Polish sausages, which was probably worth the 30-minute wait in line. Sitting in the row right in front of us was Star-Tribune blogger Howard Sinker, who I chatted with throughout the game. One of the most memorable moments of the night was Jacque Jones’ pinch-hit appearance in the late innings, earning him a solid one-minute standing ovation. (For those who don’t know, Jacque Jones is making his return to the team after playing here from 99-05.)
Here’s us singing the first Target Field “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch!
I loved your video of the starting line-up. Also, nice shout out to Harris while they announced Punto. I can’t wait to get to a game!
Good stuff!
