I will start out by saying that for the several of you who saw last week’s password-protected blog headline and feared the worst… It was not a health or injury-related thing. And now I am more or less back to normal.
Some of last week’s highlights included Week 5 of the karaoke league, where it was Battle of the Sexes week and males performed female songs and vice versa. I chose The Bangles’ “Eternal Flame” and danced around with a ribbon dancer. It was my worst vocal performance so far but thankfully the ribbon distracted from my inability to decide which octave to sing the song in.
It was also a fun-filled work week. We celebrated a co-worker’s birthday with a trip to Din-Ho Chinese BBQ, and on Friday over lunch break the marketing team went to the driving range. We do work at a golf company, after all. I had my best ever day of hitting a golf ball at the range, blasting one ball nearly 300 yards off a back net. The other 59 went nowhere close to that far, of course.
On Valentine’s Day Lauren and I actually paired up with our friends the Bartholics and did separate activities. Lauren and Heather went to a painting/wine drinking event downtown, while Bart and I went out for crawfish. Not to worry, the Ryan-Lauren tradition of celebrating Valentine’s Day at Buffalo Wild Wings while watching a Minnesota Wild game will continue on Sunday, our sixth consecutive year of doing such.
Today is going to be a long day of grown-up things. New tires, state inspection, opening a new bank account, preparing taxes, watching someone’s dog, and later on trying out a new pasta maker Lauren received for Christmas.
In other news, I discovered the pickup we own is not a Silverado at all like I thought, but a C/K 1500. Huh, who knew. Also, we saw Oscar nominee Zero Dark Thirty at the Drafthouse making it four of the nine Best Picture nominees we’ve seen this year. Lastly, Lauren taught the beagle a new trick to “stick ’em up!” whilst begging for treats.

I would have chose The Ting Tings “That’s not my name”.
