It should be quite the weekend in the Twin Cities for sports. In three days, there are five huge events. Saturday the Gophers take on Wisconsin at TCF Field, while the Wild open their season at home vs. Columbus. Sunday, the Twins finish out their season against the Royals in their final game at the Metrodome. Meanwhile, 200,000 spectactors are expected for the Twin Cities Marathon, with former roommate Sarah signed up to run, health pending. (And let us not forget that the Timberwolves open their preseason against the Bucks in Mankato!) Monday, Brett Favre and the Vikings take on the Packers in what is expected to be one of the most-watched NFL gamese of all-time. So not only are all the events going to attract thousands of people, but they are all meaningful and all five sports matchups feature Midwest opponents (Green Bay, Columbus, Kansas City, Wisconsin, Milwaukee). Should be an entertaining weekend!
I only plan to go to the Twins game Sunday, but I also plan to drive down to the U of M campus Saturday around noon to see how bad the traffic and parking are in preparation for next weekend’s wedding events.
Here are my Minnesota sports predictions for the weekend.
