From May 26 to June 18, the Glanzer Fam has been going non-stop. This year, Lauren and I sat down and meticulously planned out every single day of the summer, so everything that happened during these dates was in fact planned. Jam-packing a schedule to the brim may have sounded fun at the time—and it was fun—but it was also mentally draining. Take a look!

Thankfully, things slow down some after this…

Just kidding, they definitely do not slow down any.

Coming this week, Lauren has a team building event Monday and Tuesday, I have a work function Wednesday, and Lauren has another team event Thursday. This is all while John starts a new karate camp and the temps are soaring over 100º daily. And then next week Lauren goes to NYC for work. And then we spend 7-10 days in South Dakota! In theory, though, the SD trip should be mostly R&R. No horsing around with camps, and hardly any driving at all.

Will we have any money left when this is all over? No, probably not.

Edie being looney towards the end of the Minnesota trip… and who could blame her?!

John is no stranger to life on the road.

John and I went to the Twins/Brewers game with Chris Ahrendt and son. We all got featured prominently on the Jumbotron and the Twins won despite it being a fairly boring game. It was John’s 19th MLB game attended.

Galveston was a planned trip with our local friends the Plumpes. We rented a lavish Airbnb just steps from the beach and enjoyed several days of sun and sand. We actually got pretty close to a shark while swimming in the Gulf waters! It was an easy 4-hour drive from Austin.

I was also in Dallas for four days for work. The Lifecycle team is now largely centered in the Dallas area. My manager who lives there has hired a lot of his former colleagues and acquaintances who also live in the area, so it’s now our team’s easy meeting spot. I bused up on the luxury Vonlane line. The face time was great and we got some good work in, plus it was three straight nights of big dinners, drinks and entertainment. On Tuesday night we all took in the Rangers-Cardinals game.

As for the Minnesota trip, it was largely centered around visiting Lauren’s family. We both worked remotely when we could. Lauren did full days, I mostly did half days. We put the kids in camps in the morning to keep them busy—Edie did a dino camp at the Edina Community Center, and John did a basektball camp at Edina High School. It was so much driving around that by the time I had them dropped off and back to the hotel, it was almost time to go get them again! We saw the Rosok family in some capacity all but one day, and various other family and friends when we could. We did a Target Field stadium tour, let the kids do some rides at Nickelodeon Universe at the MOA, and plenty of other fun stuff, but also spent a lot of time in the hotel. The kids swam like crazy and dominated the free breakfasts.

A recurring theme of the trip was Edie’s bad slapping habit! It would not be exaggerating to say she slapped, punched, or kicked John at least 1,000 times that week. I know at first that sounds staggering, but about 150 times per day is about 12 times per waking hour, which now almost sounds like a light estimate. It was just constant. John was in fact asking for it 80% of the time, but she got so used to hitting him for teasing that she’d haul off and slug him for things like sneezing or looking in the wrong direction. She caused such a scene in the visitors dugout and clubhouse at Target Field attacking John I thought we were gonna get kicked out. So, we must break this crazy habit immediately. Probably just being so thrown off her normal routine is partially to blame.

Eh, you know what, I don’t have the energy to write any more. Too much neglecting of normal homeowner duties these past few weeks!
