Johnny and I joined the Megos for breakfast this morning at Kerbey Lane, and it was a difficult meal to enjoy. Not only was Johnny being crazier than ever before, but I was finding it harder and harder to swallow food as the meal went on. I left a whole side of breakfast potatoes… I would never leave everything if I wasn’t hung over or in some other bad pain. And my ears were in severe pain on top of that. Upon returning home I knew I had no choice but to get into an urgent care facility asap.

With Johnny in tow I raced to the nearest MedSpring Urgent Care clinic and was seen by a doctor. I thought I had strep throat, but I was told it was hand-foot-and-mouth disease, plus a double ear infection, to boot. They said Johnny probably gave it to me, and his diagnosis of impetigo was wrong. And I was warned it’s much worse for adults, and there was no prescription he could give me because it’s viral and can just be managed with over-the-counter stuff. I was thinking this doctor was some crackpot… my hands and feet were fine!

And then we got to Walgreen’s to get my ear medication and I noticed my hands were starting to get some little blisters. As the day went on my feet got them too. I got Chipotle for dinner and Johnny wolfed his down but I could no longer swallow a single bite. A piece of rice going down my throat felt like a flaming hot razor blade wrapped in sandpaper dipped in sulfuric acid. So I guess I’m not going to be eating anything for a while. I’ve had many sore throats before but this is different somehow.

Trying to enjoy breakfast Saturday morning. It was nice seeing the Megos, but Johnny's toddler craziness and my health put a damper on things.
