Scrubs finished?
Scrubs finished?

Scrubs came to an end last night on ABC with a one-hour finale. It wrapped everything up very nicely, and I thought it was one of the better TV finales I’ve seen.

As usual, Scrubs managed to work in some comedy, daydream scenes, and tear-jerking moments. We found out the janitor’s real name (kinda), Dr. Cox had some heartfelt words about JD, and many of the show’s guest stars returned for a dream sequence scene.

I’ve been reading lots of rumors online today that ABC hasn’t necessarily shut the door on Scrubs completely, but we already know that Zach Braff and creator Bill Lawrence won’t be back for Season 9. So I’m debating if I’d like to see another season or not. On one hand, it is a great show, so I’d probably still watch regardless of what new characters they bring in. On the other hand, it wrapped up so nicely that it would be a shame to bring it back for some less-than-stellar episodes. It seems like a very good time to leave, especially on such a high note. One more season could change the way I look at it. I think the best idea would be to bring it back under a different title so a future season doesn’t rub off negatively on the past ones.

On to some baseball thoughts… I have been very disappointed with the Twins this season with their 13-15 start. In fact, they have been outscored by more runs than any other team in the majors (33 runs), including the Nationals, so their pythagorean record would put them at something like 8-20, so I shouldn’t complain. When the games are actually close, though, they’re good. They are 4-0 in one-run games, amazingly. I have been to three games this year but don’t plan to go to anymore until they start playing better. I am not a fan of wasting my money to see them lose 9-1.

I also think it’s funny that as I write this, the AL division leaders are Toronto, Kansas City, and Texas. I would be more than pleased if that’s how the season finished, with three underdogs making it. But I know that won’t happen. I’ll be surprised if even one of those three teams hangs on to make the playoffs.

Alright, better pay attention.  I’m in my final Flash class!
