Amazingly, two years after leaving MB I am still employed as a contractor. They keep me pretty busy with about 10-15 hours of work per month, which doesn’t sound like a lot, but I have a tough time finding the time to fit it in.
The latest project they asked me to do was to take this concept below and make it into a more appealing t-shirt design. Because no self-respecting individual would walk around wearing this:
Basically the premise is first there was Euclid who studied flat shapes (apparently). Then there was Plato, who studied 2D shapes (or something). And then these guys came up with a successful 3D printer that brings complex objects to life.
I thought about it for a while and decided that my favorite t-shirt is from a restaurant and it features a cartoony drawing. People would wear a shirt with a single drawing on it. You really can’t go mixing different elements like a photograph, a painting, a drawing, text… it would look ridiculous.
So I came up with this concept that shows Euclid and Plato tossing their old shapes aside in awe of the Afinia 3D printer!
Yes, I still have my cartoony drawing talents after all these years despite not breaking them out very often. My thought was, “would I ever wear this?” and the answer was “yes.” No coloring it in, just leave it as line art. It could be changed to white to put on a colored t-shirt also.
We’ll see if the powers-that-be agree with my design. Either way, I still get paid for my time spent drawing.
Flat shapes are 2D.
