As I sit here on Saturday morning watching the greatest channel on TV, MLB Network, Nick has just taken off for Chaska to move his first load of stuff.  Thankfully Nick has agreed to leave his TV here until the last round of moving so everyone can watch the Oscars tomorrow night, our official “last hurrah” here at the house.

Speaking of which, here are my Oscar predictions.

Best Picture: Slumdog Millionaire
Actor: Mickey Rourke, The Wrestler
Actress: Kate Winslett, The Reader
Director: Danny Boyle, Slumdog Millionaire
Supporting Actor: Heath Ledger, Dark Knight
Supporting Actress: Marisa Tomei, The Wrestler
Screenplay: WALL-E, I’m going out on a big limb here!

In other news, I’ve got a busy spring coming up.  I agreed yesterday to rebuild the website for a company in Annandale called Classic Rides & Rods.  My company’s president approached me with the project as it’s his brother-in-law that owns the business.  I plan on driving up there two weeks from today to start on the project.  If that website goes well, the same guy would want me to build a second site for his roofing company.  Plus, I agreed a long time ago to build Travis and Jonny’s new website, and I might as well do them at the same time.  Anything to earn a little extra cash before the wedding!  If you think about it, I’d earn the same amount doing these websites as I would DJing 18 dances.

I’ll jump around a bit here… I saw yesterday the Twins are close to signing third baseman Joe Crede and relief pitcher Juan Cruz.  What?!  The Twins making two significant upgrades in a day?  Neither is official yet, but if the rumors are indeed true, I’ll completely change my tune about the Twins’ chances in ’09.  Crede, a lifetime hated White Sock, has had his share of back problems the last two years but is a big-time power threat when he’s healthy.  And Cruz was the best available relief pitcher on the market this winter, but no one would sign him because of the complicated “Type A” free agent status that means the Twins would have to give up their first-round draft pick to Arizona if they signed Cruz.  But the teams seem to be working out a sign-and-trade deal that would allow the Twins to keep their draft pick.  It’s very exciting… I hope both deals go through!

This weekend, Sarah is back for the final time with Walsh and Roscoe.  Roscoe has already had himself quite the time.  He ate an entire loaf of bread Lauren brought home from work, and I’m not talking about a regular loaf of bread you’d buy in the grocery store.  This was like a giant homemade round loaf with a tough crust.  It was half his size and he somehow knocked it off the counter and ate the entire thing.  I’m not sure if I’m even mad, as Ron Burgundy once said, in fact, I’m impressed!  Not that I condone dogs eating food that I otherwise would have, but that’s shocking.  I think this may have even outdone the time he ate all four of Nick’s giant Perkins blueberry muffins and a pound of licorice.

Well, plans for today are to pack and clean upstairs.  Lauren is out this afternoon on a wedding gown outing with some of her family and bridesmaids.  Other than that, should be a quiet weekend until the gang arrives tomorrow night for the Oscars.
