For the first time ever, I actually feel like I could perhaps stand to lose a few pounds. I noticed some recent reflections on store windows and I don’t look too sharp. Yes, my years of incredible metabolism may be behind me. When I graduated high school, I was the same height I am now and 186 pounds. When I turned 21, I was 206 pounds. When I started work full-time I was about 235. Now I’ve ballooned up to about 270. Some website says my target weight should be 196… I don’t know about that. But 245 would be a good goal.
I tried Lifetime for a year and hated it, plus it was super expensive, so I won’t consider going back to any fitness club like that. As much as I liked to think that playing a game or two of softball a week was keeping me in shape, it really wasn’t, unless you count all the water weight I sweated off. I think I will go buy a bike and see if I can’t tear up the city streets a little. As far as my eating goes, it will be tough because a) I am always very hungry and b) eating is one of my favorite pasttimes. So we’ll see if I can make any healthy changes there.
In other news, Lauren and I are going to Valleyfair tonight after work thanks to some free tickets from Jason. It will be my first trip there since the company summer party last year. 99% of the people I knew while working there are long gone, but Jeff and Ron Hubner and a few others remain and I’ll be sure to say hello to them. It’s always interesting to walk through the Games area and see what all’s changed since my glory days of 2002-2005.
