Aside from acquainting ourselves to the new house, here are some other recent happenings. I’ll blog later about my recent two weeks from hell!
I coached John’s baseball team yet again. This season we were the Reds, one of ten teams in the Balcones/Town & Country interleague. It was by far my best season as manager! We went 6-3-1 and made it to the semifinals. In John’s first taste of 12U baseball, he had 8 hits over the 10 games, and pitched frequently, winning two games.

I went to Tulsa for a work trip. It was the biggest gathering since pre-pandemic. I rode the Vonlane bus up to Dallas and then hitched a ride to Tulsa with manager Shane and colleague Antje, rather than mess around with flying. Aside from a lot of meetings, each night featured an outing. Monday was a rooftop sushi party for the whole company, Tuesday was a team dinner and escape room, and Wednesday was a pickleball tournament.

I was home for all of one night for Halloween before I headed off to Detroit for the annual boys’ weekend centered around a Vikings away game. After wins in Vegas and Nashville the previous two years, few foresaw a victory this time around, but the Vikings eeked out a win over the Lions. The trip also featured a quick little jaunt into Windsor, Ontario for an escape room and plenty of bar hopping.

Finally, upon return, it was two solid weeks of baseball practice for John as his 12U Snowballers team participated in a Christmas themed charity tournament in Georgetown. The kids lost all 3 games, sadly.
