After reading Jordan’s blog, I think I’d only make her feel worse by writing about what a laid back, peaceful weekend I had. We did very little. Saturday Lauren and I went to her sister’s housewarming party in south Minneapolis. Sunday we pretty much hung around home all day after going grocery shopping in the morning. That night a few friends were over and we hung out on the porch drinking a few beers and later wound up at the CC Club for a short time. Monday we hung around home again, went for a bike ride around Lake of the Isles in the evening, and watched a movie at night. Seriously, that was pretty much the whole weekend. Three days of peace, quiet, no work, no DJing, no plans. Sorry Jordan!

Of course things got busy Tuesday. After a very long day of work after the long weekend, I had the fantasy football draft with Patrick and friends at Buffalo Wild Wings. I’m not sure if I’m thrilled with my team or not. My first few picks were Randy Moss, Tony Romo, and Jamal Lewis. Moss single-handedly led me to the league championship a year ago, even with Jon Kitna as my starting QB. After that I snatched Ocho Cinco, the Vikings D, Earnest Graham, and Kellen Winslow before taking off for my DJ meeting just down the road.

At the meeting, I finally got the chance to meet my fellow DJs. I’d been trained by one and trained two others, so there were three new guys. An odd bunch, I’d say. Joe went over a lot of stuff with us regarding crowd involvement and how to get better tips. He grilled up something insane like 36 brats for 8 of us and gave us our paychecks. I’ll be taking that check directly to the bank today to deposit safely in my savings!

Around 9 I took off from Joe’s house for home, where Lauren had planned a night out in St. Paul with Jaime and Christian. Only we didn’t think about the Republican Convention going on until the last minute, which would have been a raucous crowd, so we backed out. Instead, Lauren and I went across the street to Black Forest Inn for a late dinner. I think BFI has the best outdoor patio during the summer, even if it was kinda cool outside.

The rest of the week is looking pretty open and then on Saturday it’s off to Maple Plain to DJ another wedding dance. This couple sounds pretty cool and they are big country fans, so that makes my job a little easier. Only about six more weeks of the busy wedding season before things quiet down for the winter. I’m okay with DJing every weekend from now till then as long as I get Carpenter Bash V weekend off, and DJing doesn’t interfere with potential Twins playoff games!

Also, Lauren recently wrote about last name changing.  Lauren has asked several times if I would change my last name to Poulter.  Uh, sorry honey.  I would be the least respected male in the state, and imagine how often I’d have to explain that to people.  Not worth the hassle!  I’m also not sure I’d be comfortable if future children all had the last name Poulter and not Glanzer.  We might have to combine the last names into one.  Poulanzer?  Gloulter?  I don’t know!  I guess we’ll worry about that a few years from now.
