It’s my first entry as a 26-year old… so far, nothing seems too much different. Friday, my last day at 25, was spent at the Eagan Community Center where Lauren’s friend Amanda had her wedding reception. Nightlife cut her a great deal, as long as I DJ’d. It was a small but fun crowd. Country seemed to be the popular music of the night, though Haddaway’s “What Is Love” and N’ Sync’s “Bye Bye Bye” stole the show. After the dance, Lauren and I stopped off at Granite City for a birthday beer, as the clock had just struck midnight.
Saturday was my birthday, but I was off to Jordan to DJ a dance at the country club. It was the nicest venue I’ve worked so far. I was able to park right next to the door and carry the equipment like ten feet inside. I barely even worked up a sweat. Amazing. I was told to be there early cause guests would be arriving at 2:30. Well, the wedding must have gone long cause people didn’t really start coming till 3:30. Of the 240 in attendance, I bet half were over 50, and no one fell between the ages of 3 and 25. So dancing was minimal, but the most effective songs of the night were polkas and waltzes. And again, “What Is Love” got them out on the floor. I earned a nice tip and was home by 12:30.
So today we celebrate. Lauren picked up a keg of Grain Belt and is cooking me breakfast as I write this. What a turtle dove she is! Jason and Brad just walked in and are joining me for the first beer of the day. We’re expecting a nice crowd throughout the day to help us polish off that keg. So, if you’re not up to much today, swing on by bearing presents!
