It’s the Summer Olympics, and surprisingly, we’ve actually been watching a lot of it this week.  I’m not usually very interested, but Jason has been over the last couple days to watch with Lauren while I’m at work.  The event that has most peaked my interest is surprisingly beach volleyball, though the whole Michael Phelps swimming craze is hard to ignore.  Jason and Lauren were up late Wednesday night watching, and when I woke up this morning, Jason was right back up watching basketball.

Today I had a doctor appointment at Park Nicollet to see if there was anything that could a) be done about my profuse sweating; b) be done about my tingly, numb sensation in my arms; and c) prevent a future panic attack like the one that took place last Tuesday at work during training.  All three were predictably related, and the doctor suggested it is due to my high blood pressure.  One prescription is all it took for all three.  This new medicine, which I will try for 90 days, will block certain chemicals from getting to my heart, thereby slowing its rate and taking some of the strain off it.  The doctor also said it wouldn’t hurt for me to cut back on drinking some and get a little more exercise.  So, all is well for now.  I’m not in any great or immediate danger, just gotta watch the old ticker!

After work, Lauren and I took a bike ride around Uptown and went down to Lake Calhoun, and who should we run into but Nick “Big Wheels” Sandbulte, biking around the lake as well.  We stopped and pointed out the oddity of running into each other, then kept along our ways.  As I write this, Lauren is upstairs bathing, Nick is nowhere to be found, Sarah is welcoming Walsh back to Minnesota after a business trip, and Jason is passed out cold beside me on the couch.  Yes, even Jason needs the occasional hour or two of sleep.  Must have been that 750 of Canadian Mist kicking in.

Tomorrow at work is the most anticipated day of the year regarding attire: shorts and sandals day!  I will say, however, the timing could have been better.  This week’s temps have only been in the 70s and low 80s.
