What’s Been Happening
Yes, the Daily Log has lost all meaning once again since I last updated six days ago, but not a whole lot of interesting stuff has been happening.  I spent 24 hours at AmericInn this weekend working, so that wiped out any chance of something exciting happening Friday through Sunday.  But it turns out I need the money quite badly due to a massive checking error.  My checkbook showed I had like $350 left, so I had nothing to worry about.  But then I called the bank to change my address and they told me I was in the negative.  I couldn’t believe it.  I know my accounting skills aren’t the greatest, but I certainly couldn’t have mis-counted by $350 or more.  My only explanations are that a deposit was lost in the mail, an online bill payment wasn’t accounted for, or–this seems most likely–I was about to send a check in to be deposited and then decided to cash it, but forgot to erase it from my register.  That seems like it may have happened in August, but I really don’t remember.  Regardless, I was able to deposit a few paychecks and such and get back on track this weekend.  Otherwise, not much new.  I’ll review the top ten headlines since the last update now.

1. Sys-Anal Test Good: Yes, I took my midterm in one of the most useless classes I’ve ever taken–Systems Analysis and Design.  I studied minimally for a test I knew minimal information about, and still came out with a B.  Needless to say, I was quite pleased.  Jeff Landhuis called me to let me know he did great, so maybe there was an error in the grading or something.

2. Chargers Lose Yet Another Heartbreaker: If the Chargers could erase the final three minutes of every game this season, they’d be 7-0.  Unfortunately, they always find a way to piss away their leads in the closing seconds every week.  That was the fourth time this year they lost on the final play of the game.  Dallas, Denver, Pittsburgh, and now Philadelphia all beat the Chargers and dealt me a crushing blow.

3. Showcase Coming Soon: My Freshman Showcase play I’m directing debuts Wednesday night, along with the three others, directed by fellow DSU thespian legends Miles Rausch, Holly Smith, and Paul Hotchkiss.  “A Contest,” an essential copy of the Seinfeld episode “The Contest,” is my play.

4. One Internship Done: Monday night was the official end of my internship with David Glanzer Casting of Hollywood.  It was a good time building him a site, and it is finally out there on the web.  Check it out at www.dgcasting.com.

5. Horse Races: The last time I went to the bar, or consumed any alcohol for that matter, was Wednesday night at The Cocktail, where Amanda and I met up with Cooney, Jake, Feeney, Craig, and Jeff.  Cooney introduced us to the drinking game Horse Races, where you name cards, bet on them, and race them by flipping over other cards.  Fun game.

6. You Can Still Vote: Voting for the Ryan Glanzer Big in 2005 Awards is still open.  I know how things are looking after 75 votes, but the details won’t be disclosed until the ballots are officially closed in early November.  I will say this: there is a very tight race for the big award for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Excellence, so be sure to vote or re-vote to make sure your favorite wins!

7. Baseball Exciting: I’ve been paying some attention to the baseball playoffs and World Series.  As much as I hated the White Sox at the beginning of the year, I must say that it’s nice to see someone new in the Series.  My preseason pick, if you will look back to a spring Daily Log, was of course the Twins over the Braves.  I didn’t pick either Houston or the White Sox to even make the playoffs.

8. Bon Jovi Update: I’m still waiting for those tickets for the January concert to show up in the mail… You know how paranoid I am about them being lost or something.

9. Applying: I’ve applied for a handful of jobs lately, including the Twins public address announcer and the Phoenix Suns graphic artist.  I’m not holding my breath on either.

10. No Show for Tour: I overslept big time for last Thursday’s Sculpture field trip.  Later, I awkwardly ran into professor Joe Staudenbaur at Subway and had to make up an excuse for my absence.
